You get nothing for the time you just invested and your inevitable victory besides frustration.3 crashes out of 40 matches may not seem like a lot except every crash is on the final wave. At least two have been while playing Hogarth on the Wall map (war mage difficulty) while located in the center lane in the primary kill box.Unfortunately I do not have the error code as in my frustration I just wanted to get off the angering crash screen. Sorry for the rant.Edit. Just wanted to apologize for the over the top title. I was just very frustrated although the quick feedback has been very pleasant.
OMD:U is a game that really came out of left field for me this year. I was not anticipating its launch or really even aware that it was on the horizon, but I could not be happier now that I am playing it. This is a perfect game for coming home and getting in a few matches, since Sabotage is played in 20 minutes or less every time.
The average game is around 8 minutes in my experience so far, and 20 is the far high end of the spectrum. This is something you can sit down and enjoy after a long day when time is limited and you just want to unwind, but also something that you can sink a substantial amount of time into if you choose.
Free-to-play games often carry the stigma of being “pay-to-win” — a design philosophy that says if you want to win, buy in. Orcs Must Die! Unchained isn’t that. It’s a hoopla of co-op action that works whether or not you want to drop some dough. While the new Sabotage mode is a welcome, albeit lesser refined addition to the series, it’s in Battlegrounds that Robot Entertainment flexes its action gameplay muscles and it’s the game type that will keep me coming back for dozens more hours — or at the very least, to nab those daily login bonuses.
OMDU is an enjoyable game, with a nice combination of strategy and action gameplay with enough inherent randomness to keep the maps you've played a number of times before interesting. That being said, you should be aware that progression in the game comes in terms of access new traps, trap upgrades, and trap mods, as well as gear and perks, rather than in making your way through a campaign or a large number of levels.
I found it odd and a little frustrating that trap upgrade points are awarded as random drops rather than through using the traps in the game, so it can take a while to upgrade the traps in your favorite loadouts while traps that you don't really use have reached higher upgrade levels. While there is variety in terms of enemy types at different difficulty levels and the number of heroes and traps you can use, the number of maps in the game is naturally limited. Achievement chasers will be in heaven, though, as the game features over 100 achievements to unlock. I absolutely love this game, how it brought OMD 1&2 into the world of Online gaming instead of plain solo or 2 person co-op. Now that the game I absolutely love this game, how it brought OMD 1&2 into the world of Online gaming instead of plain solo or 2 person co-op. Now that the game is in Open beta, bug's are less and less, and the player-base is steadily growing, All kinds of matches, be it 5vAI in Siege Co-op, 5v5 PvP Standard Siege or Survival, the standard OMD 1&2 game mode we all know, defend till you win.
This still includes Endless modes for those demanding it. Nothing beats the feeling going high in waves with a great setup, I know. The fact you now have more heroes to play, several skins to get and a deeper upgrade system are all a big plus to me. Getting new heroes is not that hard, and you have a weekly 5 heroes to use. Sure, there are still minor flaws, but I could not ask more of an Open Beta game than OMDU delivers. As one who's been there since OMDU's beginning, if I had done this review 2 years ago, it would-of been close to 5 or 6, truth be told.
A very sad ending for a very promising franchise. The first two Orcs Must Die games were great and full of charisma and identity, and had A very sad ending for a very promising franchise. The first two Orcs Must Die games were great and full of charisma and identity, and had the potential to be a very sucessful franchise. Somehow, Robot Enterteinment thought it would be a good idea to turn it into some generic Free To Play MOBA and throw away almost everything that was good about.
Traps are almost useless. Plannig is much less relevant. All the focus was shifted to online multiplayer PvP. A ton of new characters were created and they all feel empty.
